A massive public awareness rally turned into a sea of supporters on Sunday evening at the open ground near Baruirgram Railway Station Road. The event was organized under the leadership of senior lawyer and Guwahati High Court advocate Abdus Sabur Tapadar, as part of his campaign seeking a Congress nomination for the 2026 Assembly elections. Local leaders including Mostaque Ahmed (District Minority Morcha President), Jalaluddin (former GP President), and social worker Manik Hossain expressed strong support for Tapadar’s candidature.
Participants voiced concerns over the NRC, Wakf Amendment Bill, delimitation, and local democratic rights. Speakers highlighted instances of police restrictions and obstacles faced during street protests, calling for fair opportunities to express dissent.
