Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh — December 30, 2025
Police in Ghaziabad have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and made multiple arrests after videos circulated widely on social media showing members of an organisation identified as the Hindu Raksha Dal displaying and distributing swords and other sharp weapons to residents in the Shalimar Garden area of the city.
According to official statements, Ghaziabad Police responded to the viral footage on Monday, registering an FIR against 16 identified individuals and approximately 25–30 unknown participants linked to the organisation. Video clips circulating on social platforms include statements by members of the group referring to recent incidents of violence against minorities in neighbouring Bangladesh. In one clip, an individual is heard saying that residents should keep weapons “in case a situation like in Bangladesh arises,” and that weapons could be used for the protection of families
Police Response and Charges
Ghaziabad Police said the incident was treated as a serious law and order concern. The FIR includes charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to rioting with deadly weapons and wrongful confinement, among others. Authorities are also reviewing additional relevant laws under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act as the case progresses.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans-Hindon Zone) Nimish Patil emphasised that the administration will take strong action against activities that disrupt communal harmony and public safety, and that further arrests are expected as investigations continue. tconews
Public Concerns and Legal Context
The footage and subsequent reaction have sparked questions among residents and social media users about the prevalence of inflammatory speech and unregulated public displays of weapons in urban neighbourhoods. Legal experts note that the open distribution of lethal weapons without licences or official sanction can fall foul of public order laws, and police actions such as FIR registration and arrests are standard processes when such activities are reported. Authorities have reiterated that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and are committed to maintaining peace and enforcing the rule of law. & Related Articles
