Today marks a proud moment for the people of Kabuganj and Barak Valley as the honorable Minister Kaushik Rai inaugurated the construction work of a Girls Hostel under the PM-USHA Fund, sanctioned at a cost of ₹3 crore. The event was organized at the premises of Janta College, Kabuganj, symbolizing yet another milestone in Assam’s continuous journey of educational development.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including MP Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA Nihar Ranjan Das, College Principal Debasish Pal, and President of the College Managing Committee, Shri Mahon Singh, along with other notable personalities. The college campus witnessed a festive atmosphere as students, teachers, and local residents came together to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Kaushik Rai, during his speech, expressed his unwavering commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the Barak Valley. He highlighted that this project would not only provide safe and comfortable accommodation for girls but also promote inclusive and equal access to higher education for all sections of society

Janta College Kabuganj Gets PM-USHA Girls Hostel Boost

Speaking to reporters, Minister Kaushik Rai explained that the entire project—including the girls’ hostel, gymnasium, and associated facilities—will be completed within two to three months. The hostel will provide free education, accommodation, and food for deserving students, ensuring that no student faces barriers in pursuing their education due to economic hardship.

He emphasized that the PM-USHA Fund (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) is a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening higher education institutions across Assam. The project at Janta College stands as a reflection of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s larger vision to promote educational equality and women’s empowerment in every district of the state.

Rai also mentioned that he had personally spoken with the college committee to identify remaining shortcomings in the institution. He assured that any pending issues related to infrastructure or facilities will be addressed in collaboration with the Education Minister and relevant government departments
