The foundation of four key infrastructure projects in schools was laid by the proactive leadership of MLA Kishnu Dupal today and it is a major step towards the transformation of education in the area. These are science labs, computer libraries, modern classes and basic needs that will upgrade students in the rural and tea garden societies.
Bhubrighat Tea Estate, Adamtilla, Longai and Lowairpoa are just some of the corners of Patharkandi in which a new wave of opportunity is dawning upon a place where education of high quality was once a dream but now slowly becoming a reality.

In a major stride of enhancing education standards in the rural belt of Assam, four infrastructural development projects have been launched in schools in the Patharkandi Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC). These projects are part of the current campaign by the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, to modernise education particularly in tea garden and flood-prone areas.

Assam MLA Krishnendu Paul laid the foundation stone at Lowairpoa Adarsha Vidyalaya, Karimganj, for a new science lab, library, and computer room under the Assam government school development project.
Although the foundation stone-laying ceremonies have not been covered in any particular news or official press release, the kind of projects is in line with the Assam Government development approach in terms of laying emphasis on education.
The attempts can be placed within the continuum of the existing state schemes like:
Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan
Gunotsav (School Quality Assessment)
Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model Schools)
CM Sarma has stressed again and again on the necessity to equip the rural schools of Assam with science labs, computer literacy programs, and well stocked libraries.
Krishnendu Paul Patharkandi

Why Patharkandi? a far and socio-economically varied area in the Karimganj district

Flood-prone (particularly in the regions of Lowairpoa and Longai rivers)
The residence of tea garden communities and non-access to good education
Hampered by the historical issues of child trafficking, bad infrastructure and lack of resources
These aspects explain why modern educational infrastructure is of urgent necessity.
The existence of an organization such as Education Research and Development Foundation (ERDF) that have been managing schools such as Central Public School since 2008 contributes to the education structure and developmental partnership prospects of the region.

The Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji Government is determined to create a knowledge-based Assam,” the officials present in the event said.

Formal evidence of such foundation-laying events is not available at the moment, but the presented projects closely fit the development interests of the state and the critical needs of the Patharkandi educational environment. With proper implementation, these projects would redefine learning among hundreds of students in rural Assam.
