The Niyut Moina Scheme, introduced by the Government of Assam, remains one of the most progressive welfare initiatives in the region. Its core objective is to promote higher education among girls, prevent child marriage, and reduce adolescent pregnancies.
By offering direct financial aid, the scheme aims to ensure that young women remain focused on their studies until they achieve emotional, mental, and physical maturity before entering marriage.
Local authorities described the event as “a landmark day in the movement for girls’ empowerment in Assam,” reflecting the government’s dedication to ensuring education, health, and safety for every child.
Public Response and Impact on Girl Education
The Niyut Moina 2.0 program has received widespread praise from parents, educators, and social activists. The initiative has inspired thousands of families to rethink early marriage practices and support their daughters’ education.
Experts have hailed the project as a humanitarian step toward gender equality, especially in rural Assam, where dropout rates among girls have historically been high.
“Education is the strongest foundation for empowerment,” said a senior education officer in Sribhumi. “This scheme transforms that belief into reality.”
The live telecast of the Chief Minister’s event from Guwahati brought a sense of inclusion and state-wide unity, symbolizing that every girl’s future matters equally.
With over 10,000 students benefitting in one district, and thousands more across the state, Niyut Moina 2.0 stands as a testament to Assam’s forward-thinking governance and social welfare vision.
